Workers' Congress

Workers' Congresses (also known as Revolutionary Workers' Representative Assemblies) were established in some cities and provinces through the alliance of groups of rebel workers following the dissolution of the official trades unions in 1966 and the power seizures of 1967. During the factional fighting the Workers Congress sometimes served as the headquarters for local rebel groups, although they never achieved co-ordination at a national level; by the end of 1968 the Workers' Congresses had ceased to have any political significance.
